“I can’t wait.”

A handwritten note, clipped to a plant on the wedding day. That’s where Martina and Giuseppe’s day began, at Villa Eliana in Sorrento, facing Capri.

Yellow and blue majolica tiles, friends still in their robes, laughter before the dress. Then the church: the aisle, the glances, the vows, the rice as they walked out.

The rest simply happened.

The garden, the terrace above the sea, spritz with friends. Dinner at blue hour, as the lights along the coast came on one by one. Cake by the pool, live music, a last dance deep into the night.

Villa Eliana looks out at Capri from a terrace suspended over the sea. For a photographer it’s a gift, and a temptation: it’s easy to photograph the view and forget the people.

I chose the people.

I didn’t ask for poses. I tried to be there without being noticed, and to let the day unfold as it was meant to: simple, crowded, true.

I believe in simplicity, in photography too: better to take away than to add.
